Every Converge user has a User Profile that is visible to people that they interact with through Converge. For example, a teacher can see all of his or her student profiles and students can see the profiles of their teachers and those of students that post to a class discussion board. Administrators can see all profiles within the school or district. The profile includes any information the user adds, links to the user's email, Converge messenger, social media, and a glimpse at any classes associated with that user.
Here is an example of a user profile:
Editing your Profile
You can visit your own profile by clicking the round profile avatar next to your name in the top right corner of the screen. This will open a drop down menu. Clicking on Profile will open your personal profile page, where you will see any information you may have already added.
To edit your profile, click edit profile at the top right corner.
Step 1: Account Information
Here you will see your name, email and your password, which you can change at anytime. You can also unmask your password to see what it is.
Step 2: Personal Information
Click the green Next button at the bottom of the page or click on the Personal Information tab to add more detailed information about yourself. Remember, this information is visible to other people within your Converge network, so don’t add anything you would not like them to see.
Step 3: Teaching Experience
Click the green Next button at the bottom of the page or click on the Teaching Experience tab to add the details of your education and experience. Parents, students, and others may appreciate your sharing a little about your experience in education. This section includes the subjects you teach, the ages of your students, where you went to undergraduate and graduate school, your student teaching and your teaching experience.
Step 4: About
Click the green Next button at the bottom of the page or click on the About tab to add more information about yourself.
You may already have something you want to share about yourself from linked-in or Twitter. If so, you can easily copy and paste that text in the text box.
If you want to change the formatting in this text box or any other text box in Converge, and you don’t see the button that you need, just click the Show More Buttons icon to see what other options you may have.

Step 5: Personal Photo
Click the green Next button at the bottom of the page or click on the Personal Photo tab to add your photo to your profile. This step is recommended as it helps personalize your interactions in Converge.
To add a photo, click the blue arrow or the button in the left corner of the box.
This will launch the File Picker, where you can select the location of your file from the left sidebar.
The exact steps will vary depending on the location of your file, but you will need to navigate to your file and select it. For example, if you choose Upload this File, you will click Choose File, navigate to the file on your computer, click Open, and click the Upload this file button.
You will now see your picture on this tab. You can click on the picture on the bottom to crop it if needed.
Step 6: Networking
Click the green Next button at the bottom of the page or click on the Networking tab to add any social networks that you want your students and other teachers to see. You can connect your Twitter, Facebook, Linked in, Pinterest, or YouTube Channel.
Step 7: Authentication
Click the green Next button at the bottom of the page or click on the Authentication tab to turn on authentication through your Microsoft 365 account or your Google Account, if you are a Google Apps for Education School. The Converge support team can turn on Google Drive authentication for Google Apps for Education and it will be visible here as an option. Please note that this tab and others may be have been turned off for some users.
Step 8: Review
Click the green Review button at the bottom of the page or click on the Review tab to move to the final review of your information. Scroll through all the changes you have made, then click update your profile and you are done. You can then see all your changes, including any links to social media you added.
To see your students' profiles, you can click on the round profile avatar next to their name anywhere within your course or your grade book. For example, you will see their avatar when they post to a discussion board like the one shown below, as well as in the grade book.
When a teacher visits a student profile, he or she can easily email that student, send them a message, or reset or reveal their passwords for them.
