After creating a course, you may find that you need to edit the course settings. For example, you may need to change the course end date, update your syllabus, change the course images, or change which tabs are visible to students. To edit course settings, click on the settings icon in the top right corner of the page.
This will open the settings panel. Click on Edit Course Settings.
The General tab of the Course Settings Menu will open, prompting you to enter the basic information about your course.
Once you have finished entering the basic information, click the green next button to go to the Course Info tab or you can click on the Course Info tab at the top of the window.
In the Course Info section, you can add more information about the course, including a summary of the course and resources from a number of locations, including your Google Drive or OneDrive.
To add resources, click on the big blue arrow (shown above) to launch the File picker (shown below). Once the File picker launches, select the location of your resource or resources. If you choose Google or Onedrive, you will be prompted to login to connect before navigating to the file. Resources that you add here will be displayed on your Course Info page.
The Course Info section is also where you will add your syllabus, which you can either type or attach from your Google Drive, One Drive, or your computer. If you attach your syllabus, these items will be embedded in your Course Info page.
Adding Course and Wall Pictures
Once you have finished adding your Course Information, click the green NEXT button again to go to the Course Pictures tab or click on the Course Picture tab at the top of the course settings window.
In the Course Pictures section, you can click Choose a file to add either the course picture or the wall picture.
The image below shows the difference between a course picture (visible when you are browsing your courses and when the course is open) and a wall picture (visible as a banner when the course is open).
Clicking on the Choose a file button will launch the File picker so you can locate your image. Again, the images can come from your Google Drive, OneDrive, or your computer. You can also access a small gallery and search Wikimedia for images with Creative Commons licensing.
Once the picture is added to the Course Picture section, you can click on it to crop it and Converge will automatically constrain the proportions as shown below.
Choosing your Settings
Once you have finished adding your pictures, click next to go to the Settings tab or click on the Settings tab at the top of the course settings window.
Here you can decide whether to show your picture, whether to enable students to "complete" the course, and what tabs to show. For example, you may choose to hide the Grades Summary or Recent Activity.
You can also set Grading Periods on this page if you are using the grade book. For more information about using the grade book, please see our other tutorials.
Once you have entered your settings, click Review to go to the Review tab or click on the Review tab at the top of the course settings window.
Here you can review and alter all of your course information, images, and settings in one place. When you are satisfied, click save changes to return to the course.
