Adding a File
Adding a file to a course in Converge is a quick and easy way to share resources with students. To add a File, navigate to the learning module where you would like to add the file. Then, click the Add button.
A new window will pop up, giving you a choice between Activities and Resources. To add a File, you will choose Resources.
A window will open with all of the Resource options. Please note there is an option to add a Folder if you have multiple files to share in one place. If you want to add a single file, click File and then click Add.
When the new window opens, name your file. Then, decide whether you want the file to be visible to students now, whether to highlight it, and whether to display the instructions or not. You can change these settings at anytime.
You can click the box labeled Hide from Parent Portal if parents do not need access to this resource. By default, all resources are visible to parents and you may want to hide some items to keep the parent portal from being cluttered.
Instructions are not required, but if you decide to add them, you can add them here. You can also links, images, videos, and embed files here.
You can drag and drop a file from your computer or click in the box with the blue arrow to open the File Picker, which will let you bring in files from several places, including your Google Drive.
Click the Create in other Courses button if you want to add this same file to another course.
There is an Advanced Options button on this page. While there are some nice advanced options, most instructors will not need to utilize these. To learn more, please see our advanced options tutorials.
Click Save and Return to Course.
You should now see your file in your course. If you or a student clicks on the file, it will open in a new tab.
You can click on the settings icon on the right side of the page to change the settings, move the file to the right or left, hide it, duplicate, it or delete it.
