Adding an Image as a Label
Labels are unique in Converge, because they live on the course page. Image Labels can be used to add order and visual appeal to a course. For example, you might use image labels as place markers for different lessons.
To add an image label to your course, start by navigating to the module where you would like to add the label. Then, click the Add button.
A new window will pop up, giving you a choice between Activities and Resources. To add a Label, you will choose Resources.
A window will open with all of the Resource options. Click Label and then click Add.
When the new window opens, decide whether you want the label to be visible to students now, and whether to highlight it, which makes it easy for students to find. Both of these settings can be changed at anytime.
Click the box labeled Hide from Parent Portal if parents do not need access to this label. By default, all resources are visible to parents and you may want to hide some items to keep the parent portal from being cluttered.
To add an image to your Label, click the image button in the menu bar of the text box.
A new window will open. Enter the URL of the image, or click on Select Files.
If you choose Select Files, the File Picker opens, giving you several options to choose from. For example, you can search Wikimedia search, your Google Drive, or upload a file from your computer.
Once you select your file, it will appear in the Image Properties window. As a rule you, should always enter alternative text for images. You can also change the size of the image if it is larger than you want it to be. As long as you leave Auto Size checked, it will automatically constrain the proportions. Finally, adjust the alignment as needed and then click Save Image to return to the Label window
You should see your image in the label window now.
Click the Copy to other Course button if you want to add this label to another course.
There is an Advanced Options button on this page. While there are some nice advanced options, most instructors will not need to utilize these. To learn more, please see our advanced options tutorials.
Click Save and Return to Course.
You should now see your image label in your course.
You can click and drag the bar at the top to relocate the label anywhere in your course.
Click on the settings icon on the right side of the page to change the settings, move the label to the right or left, hide it, duplicate, it or delete it.
