Marking guides are great tools, because they allow you to quickly score student work based on the criteria you have entered. To create a marking guide, navigate to the assignment you would like to grade and then use the arrow on the far right to open the edit page of the assignment.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and choose advanced options.
Scroll down until you see Grading method and then use the drop down menu to select marking guide.
Click Save and display.
On this page, you can choose between defining a new marking guide or using a template. Click Define new marking guide from scratch.
On this page you will need to name your marking guide and add a description if you like.
Next, you can begin adding all your criteria, including the name, description for students, descriptions for markers, if applicable, and the point value to that particular criterion.
To add more criterion, click ADD CRITERION.
If you know you are going to be using the same comment more than once, you can also add Frequently used comments.
Deselect any of the marking guide options that you do not want and then click save marking guide and make it ready to return to the assignment page.
To use the marking guide, click the Grader button in the top right of the Edit assignment page.
Using the Marking Guide, you can quickly fill in scores and comments for each student.
