Every Converge user has a user profile that is visible to people that they interact with through Converge. The User Profile is a great way to share information about yourself, to communicate with students, and to reset passwords.
You can visit your own profile by clicking your name in the top right corner of the screen. This will open up a drop down menu. Clicking on Profile will open your personal profile page, where you will see any information you may have already added.
To edit your profile, click Edit Profile at the top right corner.
Step 1: Account Information
Here you will see your name, email, and school affiliation, which you can change at any time.
Step 2: Personal Information
Click the right arrow button, or click on the Personal Information Tab to add more detailed information about yourself. Remember, this information is visible to other people within your Converge network, so don’t add anything you wouldn’t like them to see.
Step 3: Teaching Experience
Click the right arrow button, or click on the Teaching Experience tab to add more detailed information about your teaching experience. This includes the subjects you teach, the grade levels you have worked in, where you went to undergraduate and graduate school, your student teaching, and teaching experience.
Step 4: About
Click the right arrow at the bottom of the page, or the About tab to add more information about yourself.
If you want to change the formatting in this text box, or any other text boxes in Converge, and you don’t see the button that you need, simply click on the Show More Buttons icon to see what other options you may have.
Step 5: Personal Photo
Click the right arrow at the bottom of the page, or the Personal Photo tab to add your photo to your profile. This step is recommended, as it helps personalize your interactions on Converge.
To add a photo, click the cloud icon, or the file button in the top left corner of the box.
This will launch the File Picker, where you can select the location of your file from the left sidebar.
The exact steps for choosing your picture will depend on the location of the file, but you will need to navigate to your file and select it. For example, if you choose Upload a file, you will click Choose file, navigate to the file on your computer, click Open, and click Upload this file.
Step 6: Networking
Click the right arrow at the bottom of the page, or click the Networking tab to add any social networks you want your students and other teachers to be able to see. You can connect your Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Pinterest, or YouTube channel here.
To add these to your profile, simple copy and paste the URL to your social networking page of choice.
Step 8: Preview
Click the teal Preview button at the bottom of the page, or the Preview tab at the top to see a final preview of all your profile information. Scroll through the changes you have made, and click Update Profile when you are done. All changes will then be saved to your profile.
To see your students’ profiles, you can click on the round Profile Avatar next to their name anywhere within your course or your gradebook. For example, you will see their avatar when they submit a homework assignment, like the one shown below, as well as in the gradebook.
When a teacher visits a student profile, he or she can easily email or message the student, or reset a password for them.
