In Converge 3.0, students are now able to annotate any document in order to submit their assignment. This enables teachers to utilize any sort of worksheet, but keep it all online and in one place.
When an instructor has uploaded a PDF file as part of an assignment, students are now able to open the PDF and annotate right over it, and all within Converge. Students can submit these changes as their assignment, and teachers will be able to see these annotations when grading. These instructions detail how to annotate a PDF as a student, as well as how to add a PDF to an assignment as an instructor.
Add a PDF to an Assignment
To Add a PDF to an assignment, when creating or editing the assignment, click on the File tab.
Click on the Cloud icon inside the File Submission box to launch the File Picker.
You have several options in the File Picker, depending on the location of your PDF file. For instance, if it is located on your computer, you will click Upload a File, then Choose File.
Locate the file on your computer, select it and click Open.
To add the file to your assignment, click Upload This File.
Click Save and Return to Course at the bottom of the page to finalize your changes.
Student PDF Annotation
To annotate a PDF as part of an assignment submission, students will first need to navigate to the assignment.
To locate the file, click the File tab. Next to the PDF, click Annotate PDF.
This will open the PDF within Converge. Students have several options for annotating the PDF within the viewer.
If you make a mistake and wish to delete something you’ve done, simply click on it (making sure that you have the arrow tool selected). You will then see a trash can in the corner of the object, click on it to delete the object.
To save your annotations, click Save at the top of the PDF viewer.
This will automatically submit your annotations for your assignment and your teacher will be able to view these.
