Grading guides are excellent tools because they allow you to quickly score student work based on the criteria you have entered.
To create a Grading Guide, navigate to the Assignment you would like to grade, then use the Settings Icon on the right side to open the Settings for the Assignment.
On the Settings page, click on Advanced Options at the top of the page to open the Advanced Options block.
Then, click on the Grade tab.
Go to the Grading Method drop down menu and choose Grading Guide. Scroll to the bottom of this page and click Save and Display.
You will then be directed to a page where you can create a marking guide for this assignment. You can choose between creating a New Grading Form From Scratch, or Using a Template. Click Define New Grading Form From Scratch.
On this page you will need to Name your grading guide and add a Description if desired.
Next, you can begin adding your criteria, including the name, description for students, descriptions for markers, if applicable, and the point value to that particular criterion.
To add more criterion, click Add Criterion.
If you know you are going to be using the same comment more than once, you can also Add Frequently Used Comments.
Deselect any of the marking guide options that you do not want and then click Save Grading Guide and Make It Ready to return to the assignment page.
To use the grading guide, click the Grade button at the bottom of the Assignment page.
Using the Grading Guide, you can quickly fill in scores and comments for each student.
