Adding Standards to a Course
Converge LMS makes it easy to track standards mastery by allowing you to easily pull from a repository of curriculum standards and add standards to your own course.
To add standards to your course, first navigate to the course in which you wish to start tracking mastery. From there, click on the Single Book or “Course” icon in the left-side navigation bar, then choose “Standards”.
This page is where you will add your standards, and later on, see all the standards that have been added to your course, as well as what assignments, quizzes and questions they are tagged to. You’ll also be able to decide how mastery is calculated when more than one item is tagged to a single standard.
To begin adding standards, click “Add Standards to Course” on the top right corner of the page.
Now you will see the Standards Picker. The picker allows you to choose a pre-loaded standards framework, such as Common Core ELA, NGSS or ISTE standards, and then utilize the search features to find exactly which standards you want to add. To add a group of standards, simply click on the grouping, and all standards inside of it will be added. For instance, if you want to add all 5th grade math standards, simply click on CCSS.Math.Content.5, and all standards from this category will be added.
If you want to only add a few specific standards at a time, continue clicking on the arrows to the left of the groups until you get to the specific standard you want to add, then select it. Remember, you can always use the “Ctrl” or “Command” button on your keyboard to select multiple standards at once.
When you’ve finished choosing which standards to add to your course, click “Add” at the bottom of the standards picker window.
Now, all of the chosen standards have been added to your course.
You can choose how mastery is calculated for all standards using the drop-down menu at the top of the page.
You can also use the drop-down menu under each standard to do this, if you have some standards you want to calculate differently.
Once a standard has been added, you also have the option to change the language of the standard, to match learning targets, or make it more student friendly. To do so, simply click on the Settings Gear on the far right of the standard.
From here, you will be able to edit the description of the standard, and this description will now be visible to you and your students.
